Did you ever get off track

   Stopped listening to the inner voice

It is so easy to do

   Not worth getting upset over however

The track of life includes the time of getting off

   For it is a teaching moment

What have we listened to instead of our own voice

   Every time we discover what it is

      The next time becomes easier to see it

      There is less time of spinning our wheels

Now we are free to get back on track

   For it is so much more peaceful to hear our calling

   We are not disturbed by the outer world

   We are not caught up in someone else’s values

   We can be the only person traveling the track less traveled   

Life is not based on productivity

   No it is found in being

      Who we are where we are

To get off track is to travel forward or backward

   Into the future or past

To get back on track is to be present to the now

   Where each breath leads to the inner voice

      Inviting us to reunite with our life

      Not someone elses

Ever been tied in knots

   I was recently 

   I discovered the source

      The Nots of life

They are like commandments

   We are not to do this or that

   We are not to think this or that

   We are not to feel this or that

   We are not to say this or that

      If we do there will be scary consequences

Once I allowed myself to Not be commanded by others

   I found freedom

      Instead of not being me I could now be who I am

Poor

   Depending less on me and more on God

Mourner

   Feeling the sadness of loss in life

Humble

   It isn’t all about me

Co Creator

   It is about me on God

Merciful

   Others are doing the best they can

Pure

   A listener to the still small voice

Peaceful

   Nothing matters but the circus

Persecuted

   For saying yes to God

I’m no longer tied in knots

   Because I have let go of the Nots of life

   And those who are the keepers of the Nots

Is life half empty or half full

   We decide

No one twists our arm to choose one or the other

   Not even God

At any time we can change our mind

   It is up to us

But the rest of our life is dependent upon our choice

   One is death and one is life

Why do we choose death

   The thought there is no other choice

      Where did that thought come from

      Is it ours or someone else’s thought

      If it is someone elses why do we hang onto it

Usually we simply aren’t aware of why we choose death

   But once we become aware we can choose

      Half full rather than half empty

We may become counter cultural

   We are no longer choosing what the world accepts as truth

Others may not recognize us

   Why are you smiling when there is nothing to smile about we are asked

We may feel uncomfortable

   That feeling always goes with trying something new

We may lose some friends

   But happier ones are waiting in the wings to meet us

Half full or half empty

   What is our choice

Are we there yet

   The cry of our culture

What if we changed the line to

   I am so glad we are not there yet

Why would we do that

   Because waiting is a wonderful experience

It is filled with surprises of awareness

   We can look before we leap

   Haste often makes waste

   The turtle can beat the hare

   The victory is won by those who wait

Why do we have to hurry through life

   Isn’t it short enough

   Couldn’t we be missing precious moments

   Is noticing a sunrise or sunset so wasteful

   Is laziness really harmful

      Maybe true laziness is rushing life

There is a plague about this moment in history

   It is multi tasking

      One isn’t more efficient doing numerous things at one time

Could Mother Nature have the answer

   Animals are not a part of a rat race

   There is a time for all seasons

   The leaf on the tree only falls at the right time

I could go on

   But wait

      It is time to end this poem

When is a decision right

   When we think it is

When is a decision wrong

   When we think it is

So how do we know what is right or wrong for us

   We don’t

      If we are looking for perfection

One of life’s great temptations

   Perfection

If we could only attain this state than

   Anxiety would fade

   Fear would subside

   Expectations would be met

   Others couldn’t find fault with us

   We would be free of personal critism

   We would have arrived

Wrong wrong wrong

   It only happens when this physical reality ends

      For then our eyes are opened spiritually

Then we can see what God sees

   Perfection

We are already there

   We just don’t know it

   We just don’t see it

      Except for those mystical moments

The curtain is now parted

   We catch a glimpse of someone perfect

      Our Self in God

Christmas

   Simply stunning

      Surprise surprise

It turns our upside down world right side up

   The weak are the strong

      While the strong are the weak

   The famous are the unknown

      While the unknown are famous

   Silence is God’s language

      While endless words are human babble

   Doing nothing is the ultimate doing

      While endless business is doing nothing

   A little child shall lead them

      While self proclaimed adult leaders shall mislead them

   Innocence is true sophistication

      While sophistication shows the emperor has no clothes

   The forgotten in the world are the remembered

      While the remembered in the world are forgotten

   The least among us become the greatest

      While the greatest become the least

God brings a new message at Christmas

   If it is what we expect

   If it is what it has always been

   If the religious proclaim it as truth

   If it excludes anyone

   If it doesn’t startle and shake us

      It isn’t God’s Christmas Message

Ever had an emotional bowel movement

   What is that you say

      It is simply feeling what you are feeling

When our emotions build up

   We need to let them go

      Let ourselves feel whatever we are feeling

It cleanses us of whatever is constipating our Being

   That heavy inner emotion is released

      We feel the lightness of letting go

But I have a hard time doing that we say

   I am afraid of what I may encounter

   I may not be able to stop feeling once I start

   It may be too painful

   I have come to find comfort in held onto emotions

   Someone I don’t want forgiven may be set free

Those are simply limiting thoughts

   They hold us back

   They keep us bound up with what has been

   They stop us from living in this moment

I want to be set free from this inner prison

   Where the walls are my feelings

   Where the guards are past messages of the way one has to feel

   Where my cell is filled with memories of unmet hurt and loss

But the door to freedom is always available   

   We are released through an emotional bowel movement 

      Free to feel what we are feeling

We may even find ourselves feeding on the inner dimensions of

   Peace

   Love

   Kindness

   Or whatever we define as a joyful feeling

Time for an emotional bowel movement?

My mind is my own

   Then why do I let others direct my thoughts

I can be so sure of what I think

   A negative thought or event comes along

      Suddenly what I thought was true no longer is

My mind is a fickle thing

   It is sometimes directed by others

      When I am the only one who knows what is right for me

Maybe that is the problem

   I am not always sure if I am right

      Which opens the door to others or events telling me what to think

Maybe the adventure of the mind

   Is not found in being right or wrong

      But trusting that life is found in testing my thoughts

If that is true then

   It doesn’t matter whether I am right

      Now others won’t feed on my doubts

   It doesn’t matter whether I am wrong

      Now others can’t feed on my need to never make a mistake

In fact what was right in my mind yesterday doesn’t fit today

   I have grown in my understanding of life

So nothing stays the same

   Especially in our mind

Which leads me back to me being in charge of my thoughts 

   To let anyone else be in charge

      Only causes inner pain

Too busy

   Why

Interesting question

   Who said we had to be busy

      Was it you

      If not who

Is my worth wrapped up in my busyness

   If so how

Another interesting question

   Are the non busy people less worthy

      Who defines our worthiness or lack

How do I feel when I am doing nothing

   Guilty

      If so why and guilty about what

Who said doing nothing is worthless

   Probably someone who was extremely busy

      Or someone defined by their busyness

Maybe doing nothing is worth more than doing a lot

   Another interesting question

The month of December is built for busyness

   Could we dare to be less busy

      Just a question

Full of thanks

   That is how I feel

Not because it is Thanksgiving

   But because life was made for being full of thanks

To have only one day to say thank you is sad

   24 hours is simply not enough time

      It takes a life time

Every moment is seen as gift

   Every person an invitation

      Every happening an adventure into the now

The greatest present to be thank full for is

   The present

It is the only place we truly live

   Full of wonder and awe

Every second is new

   Bursting with possibility

      To live life as never lived before

No wonder we are thank full

   Or full of thanks
