Spiritual Thoughts for Week of February 23, 2009
Posted: under Weekly Spiritual Thoughts.
Dear fellow spiritual companions,
What a joy it is to be able to share some of my personal spiritual thoughts with you. I am going to be doing this every week. It is not a daunting task because when one deals with spiritual thoughts they are greater then who we are. They come from a place of inner peace and wisdom. They do not belong to us, but to something much greater. To use a word which is popular today, we simply are tuned into a God Channel.
How does one get in touch with this Channel? It comes by leaving our mind behind. The key word in that sentence is OUR. So often we are wrapped up in our everything. I wrote a poem a number of years ago that said these words:
We can not be God’s Something
Until we become no thing
One of our biggest fears is to be nothing. Without a title, degree or identity who are we? Once we enter this inner landscape of no title, degree or identity we begin to experience spiritual thoughts. They come from somewhere other then us. They are like the wind. We don’t know where it comes from, it is just there. I love to tell puns. Words are my friends and I love the deeper meaning they bring to me. Someone will be speaking to me and suddenly out of nowhere comes another meaning for a word or idea – my definition of a pun. A bald man named Harry suddenly becomes an oxymoron. This is the way it is with our spiritual thoughts. Suddenly something that seems so harmful becomes an opportunity to see God, in whatever Name you use to describe this Being, turning this event into new life. OUR mind doesn’t think like this. We stay stuck in the harmfulness instead of the Higher Being Possibility.
Sometimes being out of OUR mind isn’t bad! Now we can enter the Spiritual Mind!
Peace
Gary
